About this Project

Berwick-upon-Tweed is an East Coast Mainline station, reaching as far as Aberdeen in the north, and London Kings Cross to the south. The station is the last stopping point in Northern England, just a few miles from the Scottish border.

We were contracted by Virgin (LNER) & Colt Construction to replace the main roof of the Grade II listed station, as well as refurbishment of off-shoot flat roofs.

This included:

  • Stripping of main station roof
  • Re-slating of the roof and brickwork detail
  • Sika liquid coatings applied to extension roofs.

A great deal of care was taken to respect the aesthetic of the Grade II listed building, resulting in a replacement roof that is in-keeping with the 1920's design, and the result is a clean, weatherproof solution that will be effective for many years to come. The project was completed over a 10 week period.
