About this Project

Orchard Roofing & Building were contracted by National Rail to conduct a full refurbishment of all Middlesbrough train station roofs.

Middlesbrough railway station serves routes managed by both Northern and TransPennine Express. These include the Tees Valley Line, Esk Valley Line, Durham Coast Line and North Trans-Pennine Line. The town itself has a population of 175,000.

The comprehensive work undertaken by Orchard Roofing & Building as lead contractor included:

  • Re-slating of all station roofs, in keeping with the aesthetic of the station.
  • SIKA Liquid Coating application to all Barrel roofs
  • A number of internal refurbishment works

Our work conducted throughout the 10 month period is considered the first stage of a large-scale masterplan that will re-introduce direct trains from Middlesbrough to London in 2021, as well as an increased number of trains to both Whitby and Newcastle.
